Have you ever wrote in your diary or your blog "Today was a normal day." Or "Today we did the usual."?
I have. Then I wondered have I ever told you what a normal day is for us? No. So that's what I am doing today.
Well a normal day would start with me getting up at six then waking Silas and Rebekah up, fix my hair a little then go roll them out of bed because they won't get up. Then we all gather in the living room before dad goes to work and he reads to us out of the bible. Then breakfast time! Which normally would be eggs or fruit. And during the week it's every man for himself. So a lot of times everyone is trying to use the skillet at once or the fruit is gone. But eventually everyone is satisfied and then it's time for chores. Everyone disperses to do his or hers. I do the dishes, Rebekah goes to sweep and so on and so forth.
So after all that hub-bub is done it's usually around eight so we start school. I usually start with Algebra then head on to little stuff like copy work, spelling, English etc. Then it's about time for lunch so I take a brake and make the soup or salad or warm the leftovers up depends on the day.
Then Rebekah has lunch dishes while I go finish history. Then really that completes school. But definitely not the day. As Silas gives a "Hurray!" We all head to indulge in our favorite past times. Which to some could be strange.
For instance I know somethings wrong when I walk down the stairs and DON'T hear odd animal noises protruding from around the corner. Or noises that are supposed to sound like swords clashing together. If that happened my thoughts would be "Is Silas okay?" Or with Rebekah if you don't hear Mary Mary playing kind of loud in her room and her singing and fixing her hair up then taking it down several times.
Of course I am probably the most normal person in my family. Even if they do describe me with such names as "OC Ivy" and such . Yes, I would much rather snuggle up with a book or play the piano or take some pictures of icicles then run around yelling NINJAGO!! Perhaps I'm getting old. I can't believe I am saying that! I am only Fourteen! I guess that is why Rebekah calls me a teenager.
Well after dad gets home from work we usually have some delicious meal cooked up. Then just more of whatever then it's the phase of the day that mom calls "wind down time." Then dad will read a story to Silas either a book or out of the story bible. Then it's time for bed.
As I read my bible in my room and finally turn out my own light I am reminded how much I am blessed everyday. With a wonderful family and friends. You know sometimes we don't think about it but we are creating memories. Every day that we are living.
Just a few days ago Silas and I were home alone and he was on the computer playing a game with some headphones on and I was in the kitchen doing the dishes. " Silas why don't you take those off don't you want to talk to me?"
"Well Sure, because your cute."
Kind of taken aback I say" I am not sure I would label myself under that category."
He's was like " Yeah, maybe not. Your pretty."
Little brothers are so awesome. And I may get angry at them sometimes but really I don't know what I would do without them. So keep a smile on your face and make some good memories. I hope you are as blessed as I am. Have a great weekend.
What does the Lord require of us? To act justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with our God. Micah 6:8
