My favorite time of year

Well it's rolled around again. Christmas. It's my favorite time of year because everyone seems to be in a better mood. Of course the day after Thanksgiving it was time to put up the tree. Done with one holiday on to the next right?
It is so much fun decorating the tree with mostly homemade ornaments and popcorn. (We are still in the process of stringing that :P) And then to top it off with an ancient angel. Passed down from generation to generation. Or maybe from grandma to mom. :)
Then to put up the manger scene made by my dad's grandma. Then it is my job to go decorate the mailbox.

Well the "Stockings are hung by the chimney with care" and the Christmas music is playing. Now all we need is the snow. Then everything will be perfect. But, of course in the midst of all this "hustle and bustle" you can't forget what we are really celebrating.
And that is the birth of our dear Lord and savior Jesus. Born in a a stable and lain in a manger yet he was the "King of kings".
Sometimes I have wondered what life would be like if Jesus had  never been born. And I can't. I can't imagine life without him.
Thank you Lord for coming to earth, for dying on the cross and rising again.
